About

Our Philosophy

At Simba Education, we are deeply committed to giving children the best possible start to their educational journey. We believe in creating a true partnership between children, educators, and families, where learning happens collaboratively. Children are capable, competent learners and active citizens in the world from the very beginning of their lives. As educators, our role is to foster and support their natural curiosity into the world around them through intentional teaching and thoughtfully designed environments that inspire exploration and discovery. Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standards, and the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, ensuring a rich, holistic foundation for each child’s learning experience.

At the heart of our approach are these key beliefs:

We believe that children possess limitless ways to think, receive, understand and engage with the world around them. Through our approach we support children to express themselves both verbally and non-verbally using a variety of mediums, experiences and themes. Every child has a voice, and it is up to us to listen and honour their unique expressions.

Environment as the third teacher

The Reggio Emilia Philosophy recognises the parents as the child's first teacher, the educator as the second, and the environment as the third. The environment is an essential part of learning – one that should be respectful, flexible, inviting and nurturing. It must offer children the freedom to explore their interests, collaborate and share ideas in a thoughtful setting while nurturing their growing competencies and skills.

We view each child as a capable, competent and curious learner. They are constructors of knowledge, meaning and values for the world around them. When we plan experiences and create environments for the children, we ensure that they have access to real materials, opportunities for free play and activities that build practical skills. Our goal is to prepare children for the world they will encounter, empower them with the skills they need most in an age of creativity and discovery.

We understand that the growth and development of each child is a collective effort. By building authentic relationships with families, our community and external agencies, we gain a holistic view of each child. This partnership helps us support their learning and sense of belonging in the world.

Documentation

Reggio Emilia recognises the important documentation process in ensuring that children's learning is visible. As the child and the educator work together during the documentation process, educators have the opportunity to acknowledge and understand children's ideas and ways of thinking. By re-examining and re-visiting children's histories and ideas, the documentation process allows the educator to revisit their learning again and again. This can be evident through portfolios, displays, visual images, drawing or writing.
