Starting January 2026, Australia's childcare landscape is changing for the better. The new three-day subsidy guarantee means that every family with children under school age will have access to three days of subsidised childcare per week, regardless of whether parents are working, studying, or volunteering.

What's Changing?

Previously, families had to meet an "activity test" to access more than two days of subsidised care. The new guarantee removes this barrier for the first three days, making quality early education accessible to all families.
